WASHINGTON ? President Barack Obama will tour a downtown Washington office building Friday and announce a $4 billion effort to increase the energy efficiency of government and private sector buildings.
The owners of the building on Connecticut Avenue have agreed to make it more energy efficient under the president's plan.
The proposal, to be announced by Obama and former President Bill Clinton, would upgrade buildings over the next two years with a goal of improving energy performance by 20 percent by 2020.
Later, Obama will host the White House Tribal Nations Conference at the Interior Department. It's part of the president's ongoing outreach to the American people. Leaders from 565 federally recognized tribes will have the opportunity to interact directly with Obama and representatives of his administration.
