Pete Sessions calls Texas Senate runoff ?insider against a tea party person,? declines to endorse

WASHINGTON?Rep. Pete Sessions declined to endorse a candidate in the GOP runoff for Texas? Senate race but described the duel between Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and former state Solicitor General Ted Cruz as ?essentially an insider versus a tea party person? in a recorded interview this week.

Republicans ?will win on coalition building, and that race has centered itself on essentially an insider against a tea party person who is far more comfortable with saying, necessarily, ?Lets go up there and say no,?? said Sessions, R-Dallas, who chairs the GOP?s organization for House campaigns, in an interview with the Washington publication POLITICO.

No doubt the Dewhurst campaign, which has worked to separate itself from the insider image, would wince at that description. But Sessions did not say whether he supports the just-say-no approach.

?I have been around many of our freshmen; I?ve seen the attributes of the goods and the bads and the in-betweens,? said Sessions, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

He said he has not decided whom he will vote for.
