HOLY HOLY HOLY | Gifts

His world was characterized by violence, alcoholism, and abuse, but young Donnie McClurkin found a safe haven in his church, Bethel Gospel Tabernacle, Assemblies of God. It was there, at the age of nine, when he made a commitment to Christ. Throughout his troubled youth, amidst the strife of daily life, he learned to stand on the promises in the scripture. ?A man?s gift makes room for him, and brings him before fantastic men.? (Prov 18:16) ?I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it? (Rev. 3:8). Donnie was born, and raised in Amityville, New York. Because of a God-given gift of music that ran in his family, Donnie formed the McClurkin Singers with his siblings, and a few close friends in 1979. It wasn?t long after that when Donnie started to feel a calling to preach. He went on to meet gospel-legend Andrae Crouch, who became a mentor to him. Through that relationship, grew a friendship that would shape the entire course of Donnie?s future.

Greece toughens border policing over Syria war

ATHENS, Greece (AP) ? A Greek government minister says the country is quadrupling its number of guards at its border with Turkey, in part because of a potential influx of Syrian refugees.

Greece is the busiest entry point for illegal immigrants trying to reach the European Union. Turkey, meanwhile, is hosting thousands of Syrians already fleeing their country's civil war.

Greek Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias said Monday that 1,800 additional officers had been ordered to the border with Turkey.

He also says 26 floating barriers will be placed along the Evros River that divides the two countries.

Greece currently has around 600 border guards in the area, according the Panhellenic Association of Border Guard Officers.

Bottomline:

Facebook reported a solid quarter. Wall Street had sky high expectations, and even though Facebook delivered on most user metrics, the traders were not pleased. Facebook stock dropped to its lowest level since IPO. This could present an attractive buying opportunity.

According to this article, "The company didn't blow the doors off of earnings, but it didn't miss Wall Street estimates."

Facebook proved that it can do good business, grow the user base, make profits and find new ways to monetize. It is a real company. What's not to like? With over 1 billion users worldwide (soon), Facebook revenue and profits can only go up from here! Add to that China entry (hopefully this year). Many other businesses would love to be in their shoes.

Tindall supports German drinking buddy Schrade

Zara Phillips sat out the opening dressage session Saturday, the Team GB eventer making her Olympics bow on Sunday, but her husband Mike Tindall was on hand to support one of his best mates.

The former England rugby captain turned up at Greenwich Park to cheer on Germany's Dirk Schrade, who got the favourites for eventing gold off to a good start posting an excellent score on his horse King Artus.

"I Know Dirk Schrade very well, and to be honest, he is one of my best drinking friends," Tindall told SID, an AFP subsidiary.

"We meet all over the world," he added. "Germany, England, and then we drink together."

He had another motive for putting in an appearance on the first day of the London 2012 equestrian event, namely sussing out the opposition ahead of his wife's appearance on Sunday.

But he said: "I am not only checking the other teams. I'm interested and the venue is brilliant."

Despite his connection with Schrade he insisted he wanted only one team to prevail.

"I wish the Germans good luck. They have a tough team, but I hope Britain will win."

On his wife's prospects he said: "I don't give her tips how to ride. Zara has a good chance. Perhaps she will get a medal. At home we don't talk about sports."

Tindall, a World Cup winner in 2003, won the last of his 75 caps during England's controversial World Cup campaign in New Zealand last year, where he captained the side early in the tournament while Lewis Moody was injured.

Midfielder Tindall was the most senior player involved in a series of drunken antics during a squad night out in the resort town of Queenstown.

Leaked security footage showed Tindall, who married Phillips, Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter two months before the World Cup last year, being kissed on the head by a woman in a bar.

US sees Israel, tight Mideast ally, as spy threat

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The CIA station chief opened the locked box containing the sensitive equipment he used from his home in Tel Aviv, Israel, to communicate with CIA headquarters in Virginia, only to find that someone had tampered with it. He sent word to his superiors about the break-in.

The incident, described by three former senior U.S. intelligence officials, might have been dismissed as just another cloak-and-dagger incident in the world of international espionage, except that the same thing had happened to the previous station chief in Israel.

It was a not-so-subtle reminder that, even in a country friendly to the United States, the CIA was itself being watched.

In a separate episode, according to another two former U.S. officials, a CIA officer in Israel came home to find the food in the refrigerator had been rearranged. In all the cases, the U.S. government believes Israel's security services were responsible.

Such meddling underscores what is widely known but rarely discussed outside intelligence circles: Despite inarguable ties between the U.S. and its closest ally in the Middle East and despite statements from U.S. politicians trumpeting the friendship, U.S. national security officials consider Israel to be, at times, a frustrating ally and a genuine counterintelligence threat.

In addition to what the former U.S. officials described as intrusions in homes in the past decade, Israel has been implicated in U.S. criminal espionage cases and disciplinary proceedings against CIA officers and blamed in the presumed death of an important spy in Syria for the CIA during the administration of President George W. Bush.

The CIA considers Israel its No. 1 counterintelligence threat in the agency's Near East Division, the group that oversees spying across the Middle East, according to current and former officials. Counterintelligence is the art of protecting national secrets from spies. This means the CIA believes that U.S. national secrets are safer from other Middle Eastern governments than from Israel.

Israel employs highly sophisticated, professional spy services that rival American agencies in technical capability and recruiting human sources. Unlike Iran or Syria, for example, Israel as a steadfast U.S. ally enjoys access to the highest levels of the U.S. government in military and intelligence circles.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to talk publicly about the sensitive intelligence and diplomatic issues between the two countries.

The counterintelligence worries continue even as the U.S. relationship with Israel features close cooperation on intelligence programs that reportedly included the Stuxnet computer virus that attacked computers in Iran's main nuclear enrichment facilities. While the alliance is central to the U.S. approach in the Middle East, there is room for intense disagreement, especially in the diplomatic turmoil over Iran's nuclear ambitions.

"It's a complicated a relationship," said Joseph Wippl, a former senior CIA clandestine officer and head of the agency's office of congressional affairs. "They have their interests. We have our interests. For the U.S., it's a balancing act."

The way Washington characterizes its relationship with Israel is also important to the way the U.S. is regarded by the rest of the world, particularly Muslim countries.

U.S. political praise has reached a crescendo ahead of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's scheduled meeting Sunday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Their relationship spans decades, since their brief overlap in the 1970s at the Boston Consulting Group. Both worked as advisers for the firm early in their careers before Romney co-founded his own private-equity firm. Romney said in a speech this past week that Israel was "one of our fondest friends," and he criticized Obama for what he called the administration's "shabby treatment" of the Jewish state.

"The people of Israel deserve better than what they've received from the leader of the free world," Romney said in a plain appeal to U.S. Jewish and pro-Israel evangelical voters.

Obama, who last year was overheard appearing to endorse criticism of Netanyahu from then-French President Nicolas Sarkozy, has defended his work with Israel. "We've gotten a lot of business done with Israel over the last three years," Obama said this year. "I think the prime minister ? and certainly the defense minister ? would acknowledge that we've never had closer military and intelligence cooperation."

An Israeli spokesman in Washington, Lior Weintraub, said his country has close ties with the U.S.

"Israel's intelligence and security agencies maintain close, broad and continuous cooperation with their U.S. counterparts," Weintraub said. "They are our partners in confronting many mutual challenges. Any suggestion otherwise is baseless and contrary to the spirit and practice of the security cooperation between our two countries."

The CIA declined comment.

The tension exists on both sides.

The National Security Agency historically has kept tabs on Israel. The U.S., for instance, does not want to be caught off guard if Israel launches a surprise attack that could plunge the region into war and jeopardize oil supplies, putting American soldiers at risk.

Matthew Aid, the author of "The Secret Sentry," about the NSA, said the U.S. started spying on Israel even before the state was created in 1948. Aid said the U.S. had a station on Cyprus dedicated to spying on Israel until 1974. Today, teams of Hebrew linguists are stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland, at the NSA, listening to intercepts of Israeli communications, he said.

CIA policy generally forbids its officers in Tel Aviv from recruiting Israeli government sources, officials said. To do so would require approval from senior CIA leaders, two former senior officials said. During the Bush administration, the approval had to come from the White House.

Israel is not America's closest ally, at least when it comes to whom Washington trusts with the most sensitive national security information. That distinction belongs to a group of nations known informally as the "Five Eyes." Under that umbrella, the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand agree to share intelligence and not to spy on one another. Often, U.S. intelligence officers work directly alongside counterparts from these countries to handle highly classified information not shared with anyone else.

Israel is part of a second-tier relationship known by another informal name, "Friends on Friends." It comes from the phrase "Friends don't spy on friends," and the arrangement dates back decades. But Israel's foreign intelligence service, the Mossad, and its FBI equivalent, the Shin Bet, both considered among the best in the world, have been suspected of recruiting U.S. officials and trying to steal American secrets.

Around 2004 or 2005, the CIA fired two female officers for having unreported contact with Israelis. One of the women acknowledged during a polygraph exam that she had been in a relationship with an Israeli who worked in the Foreign Ministry, a former U.S. official said. The CIA learned the Israeli introduced the woman to his "uncle." That person worked for Shin Bet.

Jonathan Pollard, who worked for the Navy as a civilian intelligence analyst, was convicted of spying for Israel in 1987 when the Friends on Friends agreement was in effect. He was sentenced to life in prison. The Israelis for years have tried to win his release. In January 2011, Netanyahu asked Obama to free Pollard and acknowledged that Israel's actions in the case were "wrong and wholly unacceptable."

Ronald Olive, a former senior supervisor with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service who investigated Pollard, said that after the arrest, the U.S. formed a task force to determine what government records Pollard had taken. Olive said Israel turned over so few that it represented "a speck in the sand."

In the wake of Pollard, the Israelis promised not to operate intelligence agents on U.S. soil.

A former Army mechanical engineer, Ben-Ami Kadish, pleaded guilty in 2008 to passing classified secrets to the Israelis during the 1980s. His case officer was the same one who handled Pollard. Kadish let the Israelis photograph documents about nuclear weapons, a modified version of an F-15 fighter jet and the U.S. Patriot missile air defense system. Kadish, who was 85 years old when he was arrested, avoided prison and was ordered to pay a $50,000 fine. He told the judge that, "I thought I was helping the state of Israel without harming the United States."

In 2006, a former Defense Department analyst was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for giving classified information to an Israeli diplomat and two pro-Israel lobbyists.

Despite the Pollard case and others, Olive said he believes the two countries need to maintain close ties "but do we still have to be vigilant? Absolutely. The Israelis are good at what they do."

During the Bush administration, the CIA ranked some of the world's intelligence agencies in order of their willingness to help in the U.S.-led fight against terrorism. One former U.S. intelligence official who saw the completed list said Israel, which hadn't been directly targeted in attacks by al-Qaida, fell below Libya, which recently had agreed to abandon its nuclear weapons program.

The espionage incidents have done little to slow the billions of dollars in money and weapons from the United States to Israel. Since Pollard's arrest, Israel has received more than $60 billion in U.S. aid, mostly in the form of military assistance, according to the Congressional Research Service. The U.S. has supplied Israel with Patriot missiles, helped pay for an anti-missile defense program and provided sensitive radar equipment to track Iranian missile threats.

Just on Friday, Obama said he was releasing an additional $70 million in military aid, a previously announced move that appeared timed to upstage Romney's trip, and he spoke of America's "unshakable commitment to Israel." The money will go to help Israel expand production of a short-range rocket defense system.

Some CIA officials still bristle over the disappearance of a Syrian scientist who during the Bush administration was the CIA's only spy inside Syria's military program to develop chemical and biological weapons. The scientist was providing the agency with extraordinary information about pathogens used in the program, former U.S. officials said about the previously unknown intelligence operation.

At the time, there was pressure to share information about weapons of mass destruction, and the CIA provided its intelligence to Israel. A former official with direct knowledge of the case said details about Syria's program were published in the media. Although the CIA never formally concluded that Israel was responsible, CIA officials complained to Israel about their belief that the Israelis were leaking the information to pressure Syria to abandon the program. The Syrians pieced together who had access to the sensitive information and eventually identified the scientist as a traitor.

Before he disappeared and was presumed killed, the scientist told his CIA handler that Syrian Military Intelligence was focusing on him.

NFL Legends Tackle Childhood Obesity In Princeton - Len Saunders

From a CBS affiliate?..

Legends of the NFL were in Princeton for the Gridiron Legacy Football School on Saturday.

The training school at Hunnicut Stadium is part of a one-day camp to teach kids everything from how to make a touch-down to tackling.

The program is led by Redskin Hall of Fame players Gary Hart, John Booty, and Roy Simmons.

?Do something active, at least 30 minutes to an hour everyday, be a kid,? advises Booty.

He hopes kids take away from the camp a lasting love for the sport, but also an interest in activities away from the X-box, DVD player, and computer.

?We hope that kids take away some football skills. These kids are young, so we don?t know what they?re going to retain. But they should be able to retain at least something,? added Booty.

Only 1 in 4 Americans With HIV Have Virus Under ... - Health.com

By Alan Mozes
HealthDay Reporter

FRIDAY, July 27 (HealthDay News) ? Among the 1.1 million Americans living with HIV, just one in four has the virus under control, U.S. health researchers say.

In a report presented Friday at the International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C., researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the problem applies to patients of all ages, races and ethnic groups, but especially to young people and blacks.

?This is the first time that we have ever looked at the outcome of continuum of care across all patient groups,? said CDC epidemiologist Irene Hall. ?And what we found is that, overall, too few people with HIV have viral suppression.? People with viral load suppression are healthy and less likely to transmit the virus to others.

?Only if we get everyone under regular care for HIV/AIDS can we recognize the full benefits of treatment and prevention,? said Hall, chief of the HIV incidence and case surveillance branch in the CDC division of HIV/AIDS prevention.

For the report, Hall and her colleagues pored through 2009 data collected by the CDC, which included rates of HIV testing, patient participation in the health care system, continuity of care for HIV, treatment prescribed, and the patient?s viral load status in terms of suppression.

Overall, about 82 percent of all those infected with HIV know their status, meaning that more than 200,000 Americans now infected with HIV are not aware of their condition.

Two-thirds of the nation?s HIV patients do have some relationship with a care provider, the report indicates, and more than one-third (37 percent) receive continuous HIV care, while one-third are treated with antiretroviral therapy.

But just over one-third of black patients were found to have ongoing care, compared with 37 percent to 38 percent of Latinos and whites. Similarly, just a little over one in five black patients was found to have viral load suppression, compared with 26 percent of Latinos and 30 percent of whites.

Blacks infected with HIV were the least likely to find out they were infected in the first place and the least likely to get any care for HIV, Hall added.

Younger HIV patients were also much less likely than older patients to know their HIV status and to obtain routine care, Hall said.

Suppression rates were also poorer among younger patients, with just 15 percent of those aged 25 to 34 having their virus under control compared with 36 percent among those aged 55 to 64.

No significant differences were seen between males and females in terms of diagnosis, treatment or disease control.

For now, the report authors can only theorize about what lies behind these differences in HIV care.

?Our study did not look at the reasons for why people are not in care, or are not prescribed [antiretroviral therapy] or don?t have viral suppression,? Hall noted. ?But in general we do know there are differences in access to care and in insurance status. There is also a stigma associated with [HIV], and some people might distrust the medical system.?

As for young people, they may not feel at risk and may not go to the doctor as often, she added.

?The treatment options certainly are much better today than in the past, but it is still a very serious disease,? she said. ?And it?s very important that people know their status and that people who are infected get regular care.?

This is not only so they can have optimum health, she said, but also ?because if we want a national strategy for prevention we do need to have people with a suppressed viral load and in care so we can stop transmission of the virus.?

Chris Collins, vice president and director of public policy at the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) in Washington, D.C., said that the CDC report ?sounds consistent? with previous assessments of the current HIV picture across the country.

?One in five are living with HIV and don?t know it,? he noted. ?And many other people are estranged from the health system. They don?t think they can get quality care or don?t have access, and we haven?t done enough outreach.?

Complacency about AIDS is an obstacle to ending the disease in America, said Collins. ?The science is telling us that we have the opportunity to begin to end this epidemic in America,? he said. ?But Americans have to realize that while we have drugs that can save lives, we have failed to get them to half of the people that need them.?

Phoenix woman and US soldier victimized by online dating scam ...

THE LOVE STORY

For Regina Stewart, the idea of joining?Match.com?seemed like a cure for her loneliness, but it also made her feel a little awkward and vulnerable. The recently divorced Goodyear woman had been married for 25 years before she decided to join the dating website in search of a good friend.

?At the time, I was in a lot of pain from the divorce,? she said. ?I wanted somebody to talk to.?

?I thought having a pen pal or meeting someone locally who just wanted friendship would be great,? she added. ?So that?s why I went on (Match.com).?

It didn?t take long before a handsome soldier ? who said he was stationed in Afghanistan? ? contacted her, looking for the same thing.

?My initial reaction was that he was too young for me,? Stewart said, describing the young man who was featured in the photographs. His age on the website was listed as 39.

Stewart is 61 years old.

THE COURTSHIP

When she confronted him about his age, the pen pal told her he had made a mistake in his online profile, and he was actually in his late forties.

Stewart thought he would be OK as a pen pal. She said she trusted him because he was in the military.

?I just continued to email him back and forth because he was trustworthy, and his emails were very respectful ? so you just kind of get caught up in it,? she said.

The soldier told Stewart his name was Sgt. Fred Milton and that he had grown up in Australia. He seemed very personal, Stewart said. He would ask thoughtful questions about her father, who was in the hospital.

He seemed to care, and he wrote her heartfelt messages.

?I have a very good heart filled with love, and I want to share it with the right person,? he wrote in a letter to Stewart. ?It?s been awhile since I?ve loved someone, and I want to do that now. I have been heartbroken once, and it almost ruined my life, my career, and my friendship with my daughter, and I wouldn?t want that to happen again,? he continued.

?I think I did fall in love with him, but it wasn?t the kind of love that you have when you?re with somebody ? physically,? Stewart said. ?They?re in Afghanistan. They?re writing you. They?re telling you that they?re in danger, and you just get caught up in it.?

?It feels like love. That?s probably the best way I can describe it. It kind of feels like love,? she said.

Eventually, the soldier suggested Stewart help him request a leave from the military, so he could visit her in the United States.

They decided Milton could stay in Stewart?s guest room.

Soon, Stewart received what appeared to be military paperwork in her email Inbox. If she filled out the forms and submitted them, it seemed, Milton might be allowed to take a special leave of absence.

However, Stewart noticed something fishy with the forms. She was being asked to submit the request to a dot-com web address instead of a government website like a dot-mil or a dot-gov.

?Eventually, it was just too good to be true, so that?s when I started doing more in-depth research,? she said. ?I went on the Internet, and I started searching.?

Stewart discovered this relationship wasn?t real.

It was a scam.

Civilians cannot request a leave of absence on behalf of a soldier.

The so-called military personnel with whom she was communicating eventually solicited her for $850 to process Milton?s paperwork, but Stewart didn?t fall for it.

THE REAL SGT. MILTON

The man in the photographs appeared to be a real soldier. He was wearing army fatigues, and his last name was printed on the front of his uniform.

The ABC15 Investigators confirmed there actually is a Sgt. Milton serving in Afghanistan whose picture matches the one Stewart had been admiring.

But his name is not Sgt. Fred Milton, and he says he has never communicated with Stewart on Match.com.

The real Sgt. Milton in the photographs is actually named Todd Milton. He says a scammer likely accessed and used his unprotected Facebook photos in order to trick women on dating sites.

?I?ve been telling soldiers in my platoon about this,? he said. ?Be careful of what you post on the Internet, on Facebook ? obviously, just watch out for yourself.?

Milton said he is flattered that Stewart was fond of his photos, and says he is thankful she discovered the scam. ?I?m glad (Stewart) caught him in time and didn?t send him any money,? he told the ABC15 Investigators.

?It definitely makes me angry,? Milton said in a Skype interview with the ABC15 Investigators, from his base in Afghanistan. ?It?s way distracting at the point in my life where I don?t need to be distracted right now,? he said.

?I?m real angry about it. I don?t see how anybody can get away with anything like that or even want to do something like that,? Milton said.

THE MILITARY REACTS

Military officials say scams like this are frequent, but it is difficult to find the

suspects.

CLICK HERE FOR EXAMPLES OF FAKE MILITARY DOCUMENTS

?These cases are hard to pursue, since people who commit computer crimes may not even live in this country and/or move from place to place and account to account very frequently,? said Major Jamie Davis, a public affairs officer for the National Guard Bureau.

??The ultimate message to the service people who have personal photographs online?? Be smart, Be careful,? he said.

Davis said various branches of the military have access to?social media handbooks?for guidance on?how to behave online.

?We live in an era where most everything is online and people have access to it. We practice teaching and training our soldiers and airmen to be mindful of what they post,? he said.

?The National Guard has educated, intelligent soldiers and airmen in its ranks that have performed admirably on the battlefield and at home during domestic responses. Unfortunately, online imposters take advantage of these service-members,? he added.

?We teach soldiers to be careful about Operational Security and watch what they post when they are downrange in a combat zone. They need to keep that in mind when they are home as well. Not everyone online is your ?Friend.??

STEWART MOVES FORWARD

Stewart said she will not be discouraged by her Match.com experience.

?It was hurtful. It hurt my feelings and my pride,? she said. ?I?m not going to be discouraged by it because I know there are some nice people out there.?

Stewart said she plans to do background checks to make sure the person to whom she is talking is actually real.

?I just think that you have to be better prepared and protect yourself and never count on a pen pal relationship,? she said.

MATCH.COM REACTS

Stewart said she would like Match.com to put information on the front page of the website that would alert users to specific scams.

?Had they had anything on there about a military dating scam, I would?ve stopped dead in my tracks,? she said.

Although a similar scam has been spotted on other online dating sites too, a spokeswoman for Match.com said Stewart?s suggestion would be considered.

?We are always looking for additional ways to further educate our customers with as much information as possible to stay well-informed and safe from these sophisticated criminals,? she said.

Match.com does list scam warning signs on its site to help prevent fraud.

?While only a small number of our millions of subscribers have been scammed by criminals who prey on individuals in every corner of the web, we take this issue very seriously and we diligently address it on the site by tracking, monitoring and preventing fraud at every step of the way,? the Match.com spokeswoman continued.

?It is also very important that people exercise common sense and prudence with individuals they have just met, whether through an online dating service or any other means, and we educate our customers and put tools in their hands to protect themselves and report any concerns,? she said.

How Can 5 HTP Side Effects Transform Your Life Learn How To ...

Is it truly possible to make it through an extramarital affair? When your partner has been unfaithful, you might think that it will be very unlikely to forgive. You will be able to move on with your lives as soon as you learn how to forgive. When unfaithfulness takes place, the anguish it brings can be too much to handle. But the majority of marriage counselors consent that extramarital affairs can at times make the spousal relationship actually much stronger. But never make the error of having an affair with the belief of making your marriage healthier.

In this document, we shall talk about how to survive an affair. Yes, the bond can become stronger if it survives the extramarital relationship but that?s an incredibly big if. Extramarital relationships tend to be very damaging to what an otherwise might be a joyful spousal relationship. Trust may be rebuilt but it'll take a good deal of time - several years in many cases. Infidelity truly isn?t even at the top of the list of causes of divorce.

A lot of individuals are confused about why extramarital relationships happen. The truth is this is not often about sex. Extramarital affairs occur when the married couples have ceased communicating meaningfully with one another. Existence can be quite a lonely journey and your spouse must be your life companion. When meaningful interaction is absent, companionship significantly suffers. You have to accept and also love one another. An affair could soon follow once love and acceptance disappears.

In some cases, an extramarital relationship can be a cry for help. Being appreciated is a natural human want. If the couple loves a lot of private time together, it?s highly probable that they'll stay with each other. Intimate time with each other is very important but it must be coupled with understanding as well as acceptance. A relationship solely based on sex won't be strong enough to make it through troubles that are sure to come.

Deciding to save the marriage is vital and is the necessary first step. Additionally, both you and your husband or wife need to be in agreement that restoring the marriage is very important to you. Saving a marital relationship cannot be done by just one person. They say that it takes 2 to tango. There is an underlying problem or issues that must be fixed when extramarital relationships come about. Both partners must be willing to figure out how to solve these fundamental problems.

You cannot expect the journey of fixing your marriage to be easy. Other people who were victims of unfaithfulness survived. If others did it, it is possible to surely do it too. Family members and close friends might help. But in some cases, only a marriage psychologist would be able to provide the help you require. A good time to face your erring husband or wife is when the emotions have subsided. After you?ve just found out the affair, refrain from speaking with your unfaithful wife or husband. Give yourself some time to get back your composure.

Reconciliation is quite often hampered by emotions. You might be thinking that it's not fair that you need to suffer from the mistake of your wife or husband and you are right. However, if you truly would like your spousal relationship to work, you'll have to make some sacrifices.

The nation's weather

Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

A low pressure system over the Northern Plains is expected to move eastward Wednesday and Thursday and become the main weather producer for the nation. Showers and thunderstorms will continue from the Northern and Central Plains to the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. In particular, a slight risk of severe thunderstorms is expected from the Upper Mississippi and Mid-Missouri valleys across the Great Lakes, with the main threat of hail and damaging winds.

Apart from this system, a frontal boundary will remain over the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Tennessee Valley and Southeast. Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated with this system.

Elsewhere, unsettled weather will persist over portions of the Gulf States. Expect showers and thunderstorms to become more widespread in the afternoon and evening especially over the coastal region. In addition, monsoonal flow will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms going over the Four Corners region. Farther north, a weak front in the northern Intermountain West may trigger a few showers and thunderstorms.

Another hot day is in store for portions of the Central Plains, Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley Wednesday and Thursday. Afternoon temperatures are expected in the 100s with possible heat indicies 105 to 110. Moreover, minimum nighttime temperatures will only fall into the mid-70s. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday have ranged from a morning low of 34 degrees at Meacham, Ore. to a high of 107 degrees at Olney-Noble, Ill.

Stronger storms may destroy ozone

Extra water vapor up high coul trigger destructive chemical reactions

Web edition : 2:03 pm

Climate change may spur the destruction of ozone in unexpected parts of the globe.

In a warming world, many scientists believe, severe weather will become more common. That could be a problem in part because powerful rainstorms have the potential to erode ozone above the United States, researchers report online July 27 in Science.

?For 30 years, we?ve studied the problems of ozone loss and climate change separately,? says team leader James Anderson, a Harvard atmospheric scientist. ?Now it?s pretty clear that climate change appears to be linked directly to the loss of ozone.? High-altitude ozone acts as a protective shield, blocking ultraviolet rays that can cause skin cancer.

Anderson and his colleagues stumbled on the unexpected connection while studying strong summer storms fueled by rising heat. During missions from 2001 to 2007, NASA planes flying close to the edge of space spotted water spewed high into the sky by convective storms over the U.S. The goal was to gather useful measurements for figuring out how high-altitude clouds form and trap heat.

But the data also revealed a possible threat to ozone molecules floating 15 to 20 kilometers up. Large storms often left behind extra water vapor in this part of the stratosphere, the remnants of melted ice crystals propelled upward.

That vapor could set the stage for a chemical chain reaction, Anderson says. Aerosol particles swollen with water can dissolve airborne hydrochloric acid. The acid can then react and form other chlorine compounds, including pairs of chlorine atoms. Sunlight cleaves those molecules, spitting out unstable chlorine atoms that break down ozone.

?It?s the same chemistry as that going on above the Arctic and the Antarctic,? says Anderson. Chlorine from human-made chemicals has chewed seasonal holes in ozone above Antarctica and caused thinning above the Arctic. These ozone-destroying chemicals are being phased out under the 1987 Montreal Protocol.

The team?s calculations suggest that the havoc wreaked by water vapor could continue for days after a storm, as humidity levels slowly fall. As much as 25 to 35 percent of ozone, over a horizontal distance of 100 kilometers, could be annihilated in a week.

?I was surprised that so much ozone could be removed in such a short time,? says Dale Hurst, an atmospheric chemist at the University of Colorado Boulder?s Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences.

For now, the danger exists only on paper. Actual measurements tracking chlorine compounds in the stratosphere would help to confirm whether the damage is taking place and, if so, how widespread the problem may be. And while many climate simulations do call for more strong storms as temperatures continue to rise, the future is still somewhat fuzzy. A warmer atmosphere would hold more moisture but would also weaken the wind shear that whips up extreme weather.

?It?s a bold idea that raises more questions than it answers,? says Andrew Dessler, a climate scientist at Texas A&M University in College Station. ?But this is what great scientists do; they come with ideas that spur people to start working on new things.?

Watch: behind the scenes with Chlo? Sevigny for Miu Miu

A behind the scenes video of Chlo? Sevigny's Fall/Winter 2012 ad campaign has been revealed, with the star showcasing the label's 70s-inspired collection to the sounds of "When I'm Small" by Phantogram.

After 16 years away, actress Sevigny was announced as Miu Miu's latest campaign star earlier this month, returning to the luxury label to front its Fall/Winter 2012 ads.

While the style icon was captured by Juergen Teller for the Spring/Summer 1996 campaign she starred in, this time fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott were behind the lens.

Miu Miu often selects actresses to front its seasonal campaigns, with past models including Hailee Steinfeld, Kirsten Dunst, Katie Holmes and most recently Mia Wasikowska.

Sevigny's return to the label -- which is a sister line to Prada -- echoes a recent move among designers to cast familiar faces in their campaigns. Earlier this year German supermodel Claudia Schiffer revisited her iconic 1989 black and white ads for Guess by shooting a series of similar shots in honor of the brand's 30th anniversary.

In the new behind the scenes video for the Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2012 ad campaign, Sevigny can be seen sporting an androgynous look as she sips tea, eats cake and lounges on a fluffy white carpet. Watch it here: http://youtu.be/J7YIc1iI20E

Webcams make Alaska bears accessible

A new video initiative is bringing the famed brown bears of Alaska's Katmai National Park directly to your computer or smartphone.

Without having to go there, you'll be able to watch mature bears compete for salmon at Brooks Falls and other sites and cubs tumbling over each other as they play. Starting Tuesday, a live Web stream will allow the public to log on and see the brown bears in their natural habitat.

"I think it's an unparalleled opportunity for people to get that front row seat of the lives of the bears at Brooks Camp," said Roy Wood, chief of interpretation for Katmai National Park and Preserve.

The project is a partnership with explore.org, which set up four high-definition cameras in Katmai, spokesman Jason Damata told The Associated Press. Three of them are at existing viewing stands where bear fans come to watch the animals.

The cameras provide access to a national park that is difficult to reach and expensive for most tourists. It is about 275 miles southwest of Anchorage, but no roads lead to Katmai. A trip there involves multiple airplanes and a lot of advanced planning: it's hard to get a lodge reservation at Brooks Camp before 2014. Camping is allowed, but on a reservation system that goes online Jan. 5.

"It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of money, and the webcams will make it accessible to anyone with access to a computer, a smartphone, a tablet device," Wood said.

The park draws just under 10,000 visitors a year, but about 2,200 bears live in Katmai National Park. About 100 of them are in the Brooks Camp area.

One camera is at Brooks Falls, where the bigger male bears compete for salmon, some while the fish are trying to jump the falls. The bears eat mostly the brains and eggs of these fish and let the carcasses flow downstream. This is the prime viewing area now.

The second camera is about 150 yards away, where females and cubs eat the fish scraps floating downstream. The third is at the lower falls, where bears will congregate later this summer when dead salmon float downstream after spawning. "Any bear can catch them when they're dead," Wood said.

The fourth is on Dumpling Mountain and provides an aerial view of the entire ecosystem, including Brooks Lake, Naknek Lake, Brooks River and falls, and in the distance the Valley of 10,000 Smokes, Damata said.

"The placement of the cams is fantastic," Wood said. "I mean, they'll be close enough, many of the bears you'll be able to identity and follow the individual bears as they use the salmon at Brooks Falls and raise their young here."

The cameras are powered by solar and wind energy. Microwave signals are sent to the Dumpling Mountain camera, which are then sent to King Salmon, Alaska, where a T1 connection allows for the high-definition cameras to be broadcast to the Internet. The best action of the four cameras will be broadcast.

They are the latest addition to a list of live-streaming webcams in the Pearls of the Planet initiative for explore.org, underwritten by the Annenberg Foundation.

    1. When it's raining, run, don't walk

When you're caught in a downpour with no umbrella, should you run or walk? Running will get you out of the rain faster, but at the risk of encountering more drops along the way ? and therein lies the dilemma. Now, science gives the go-ahead: in most cases, run.

The subjects of other webcams include osprey off the coast of Maine, and polar bears in the Arctic and Scandinavia; locations such as the California redwood trees and in institutions like the Vancouver Aquarium, where cameras are directed on belugas and jelly fish. A camera in Brookeville, Md., is focused on a golden retriever and her new litter. The pups will be raised and trained to be service dogs for military members suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

"The mission is simple. We simply want people to fall in love with the world again," said Charles Annenberg, creator of explore.org and vice president of the Annenberg Foundation.

A previous attempt to set up live bear cams from Katmai with a museum in Homer, Alaska, failed due to lack of funding.

"It's very expensive to run streaming video, more expensive than we could handle with our partnership with the Pratt Museum because both of us don't have a good revenue stream," Wood said.

He said it was a "great, fortunate day for us that explore.org called and said they were interested."

Annenberg, who also goes by the name Charles Annenberg Weingarten, said the intent of the bear cam and others provided by the organization is to make adults fall in love with the world again.

"I think when you watch these brown bears, and the salmon going upstream and you see the beauty of this nature, I think it's going to put a smile on your face and a sense of bewilderment and awe you felt a long time ago when we were all kids," he said.

He said when people view the live stream, he hopes they realize what they are seeing is pure ? there's no ulterior motive other than an experience to reconnect with nature.

The cost of the project wasn't disclosed, but explore.org will absorb the full costs. No advertising will be sold.

Wow, I need a lot of help. I'm quite overwhelmed.

Hello, hi. I guess I should start by introducing myself?

First off, thank you sincerely for taking the time to read this. My name is Elenore (I realize the spelling is weird. My school even spelled it wrong on my high school diploma.) and I basically live for the tediousness of character building. I really, really love throwing characters into situation "arenas" and analyzing how they would properly react. Anyway, although I have been writing/roleplaying as long as I can remember, I could never muster the right amount of confidence to join an actual "community" dedicated to these sort of things I like. My only serious roleplays have been more intimate one-on-ones with friends. Roleplaying on boards with multiple people was kind of a distant idea that I always wanted to do eventually, but at the time it seemed tedious. Well, my friends and I are all off to college, and while they'll be too busy to continue our elaborate, years-in-process roleplays once they begin classes, I'm going to be thrown into creative writing labs where I'll have no choice but to expose my ideas to the public and pump out words and ideas at a breakneck pace - and trust me, it's not going to be an easy adaption.

Baby steps, right? I figure now is a good as any time to join a forum... I can get used to putting my characters out there and eventually grow and improve from it. Plus, hopefully I'll get to meet some awesome people as an addition.

I have no idea what's here and no idea how all of this works. I can only tell you what I'm used to and what I've done in the past, and hopefully some helpful person might lead me in the right direction!

So, here are the type of roleplays I'm used to:
- modern, for the most part realistic roleplays
- or time-period genres (ex: frontier, old west, depression era, etc.)
- all original characters
- mature, well thought out writing, but without that kind of "uncomfortably uptight" atmosphere
(I believe it's good to have others above and below your own skill level because you can grow, and others can grow and learn from you.)
- heavily character based, situation based. less "epic" plot style, more character... very in-depth character development
- character interactions that make sense, are well-developed, etc.

My first question... would I be able to find these here, and how? I majority of what I saw were fantasy roleplays, which are cool but not really my style.

Also, do people ever practice "one on one" style roleplays in this community? Is there a topic on roleplay forum etiquette I could read? Being a first-timer to these forums so late in the game, will it be difficult to be "let in" to roleplays?

And one more question for now... I saw a characters tab in the profile section, but I couldn't figure out how to add a character and there were no links. How does that work? How do others usually set up character profiles; what's expected?

Much, much, much appreciation to you for reading my ramblings, and I'm very glad to meet you. Also, even if your genres vary from mine, I'm open to new ideas and I would still love to meet you!

Thanks,
Ele

London 2012 Games to put British cuisine back on the menu

LONDON: Feeding 10,500 athletes and millions of fans during the Olympics may be a mammoth task but London 2012 is hoping to seize the opportunity to also improve the reputation of British cuisine.

Fish and chips, pie and mash or a full English breakfast are hardly top of the list for an athlete looking to make it to the finish line, let alone win a medal.

However, the London Games organizers are not planning to turn their backs on the national cuisine during their moment in the spotlight.

Indeed, they are convinced there is something in the British recipe book to please even the fussiest of eaters.

Diverse international cuisine is part of the landscape of modern London. The six host London boroughs are home to communities from 195 of the 204 countries taking part in the Olympics, which start Friday.

Therefore, alongside porridge and jacket potatoes, roast pork, South Asian curries, Chinese noodles, Italian pasta and pizzas, not forgetting salads, are all on the menu for spectators and athletes alike.

?British food is getting better and better all the time,? said Jan Matthews, head of catering for the London Games organizers. ?We have food from every corner of the British Isles.

?We went out to make sure it was really a celebration of British food,? she told BBC radio.

The majority of the ingredients will come from Britain, in line with the Games? sustainability commitments.

?We have gone to great lengths to find top quality, tasty food that celebrates the best of Britain,? said London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton.

Organizers believe they will serve up more than 14 million meals during the Games in 40 different locations, in what they claim is ?the largest peacetime catering operation in the world.?

Some 1.2 million of the meals will be eaten by the 10,500 competitors, coaches and officials living in the Olympic Village, where the rooms come without a kitchen.

The village?s giant main dining hall, with its long tables and green plastic chairs, is the size of a football pitch and can accommodate up to 5,000 people.

There are different zones, including Best of Britain; Europe, the Americas and Mediterranean; Asian, and Afro-Caribbean, serving up specialities round the clock.

Halal, kosher, low salt or allergen-free products are also available.

The athletes are set to consume more than 330 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, 232 tonnes of potatoes, 100 tonnes of meat, 21 tonnes of cheese, 19 tonnes of eggs, 75,000 liters of milk and 25,000 loaves of bread.

Some athletes are happy with the range on offer, like the U.S. hurdler Kerron Clement, a 2008 Beijing Games gold medallist in the 4x400 meters relay.

?Eating at the Olympic Village. Love the variety of food choices. African, Caribbean, halal cuisine, Indian and Asian and of course McDonald?s,? he wrote on his Twitter account.

As an official sponsor, the U.S. fast food chain has four temporary restaurants on the Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, including one in the Athletes? Village.

McDonald?s estimates it will serve up 50,000 Big Macs and 180,000 portions of fries at the London Games, the majority at its huge outlet by the Olympic Stadium.

Olympic Park visitors will have some 800 food stands to choose from, offering over 150 different dishes.

It is not only Britain that will be promoting its cuisine during the Games ? the national hospitality houses set up by competing countries will be showcasing their own specialities.

The ?Casa Italia? has the reputed chef Massimo Bottura in place, while Brazil has brought over Roberta Sudbrack, who has the job of translating the nutritionists? specifications into dishes for its athletes at their training base in Crystal Palace, south London.

Meanwhile, Rene Redzepi ? whose Noma establishment in Copenhagen has been voted the best in the world by Restaurant magazine for three years running ? will open a special Olympic branch at Claridge?s hotel in west London for the Games.

Heath Ledger's dad calls for tighter U.S. gun laws

By The Wrap.com

The father of Heath Ledger is calling for America to tighten its gun laws in the wake of the deadly theater shootings in Colorado.

"It's terrible -- the whole circumstances," Ledger's father Kim told Australia's Herald Sun newspaper. "I think what America should be doing is restricting the availability of ammunition or revisiting their gun laws, that's what they should be doing."

The elder Ledger's comments came in response to Friday's shooting at a Cineplex screening "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo., in which 12 died and dozens were injured.

Heath Ledger, who died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008, played the Joker in the previous film in the Warner Bros. franchise, "The Dark Knight."

Ledger's father made clear that "we can't blame Heath or the character" for the incident.

"It's (The Joker) fictitious. I don't know what this does to the character," he said. "I think that's the least of my worries. I'd be more worried about the families and other people involved in the tragedy.''
