While you often can?t control what happens to you each day, you can control how you view these events and respond to them.? These suggestions will help you maintain a healthy attitude and respond constructively ? even on those difficult days:

1. Surround yourself with positive messages.? Read a positive book.? It doesn?t necessarily have to be a motivational ?self-help? book, just one with an uplifting theme.? If you don?t have the time to read as often as you?d like, try a podcast or audio book.? These allow you to hear positive messages while you clean your house, exercise or commute.
2. Wake up a little earlier.? Beginning your day feeling harried and rushed can start things off on the wrong note.? So give yourself an extra 15 minutes in the morning to get a head start on the day.? You can spend the time as you like ? reading, meditating, getting a few things done around the house ? without interruption.? Those extra minutes will help you feel more relaxed and focused, instead of feeling like you?re playing ?beat the clock.?

'Bird-Man' Video Confirmed to Be a Hoax

Turns out humans still can't fly, despite the images in a popular YouTube video.

Floris Kaayk, a Dutchman, posted a video titled "Human Birdwings" March 19. In it, he has two large wings attached to his arms. As he takes a running start and flaps his arms, he lifts himself off the ground to look like, well, a flying bird. He soars through the sky and then lands safely on the ground.

Kaayk, or Jarno Smeets, as he nicknamed himself, has become an Internet sensation known as the flying bird-man. The video has gotten more than 4 million views since it posted.

Except, it turns out, he fooled us all.

Or at least some of us. Many started to speculate that Kaayk wasn't actually flying, pointing out inconsistencies in the video. For instance, in one shot there is a spot on the wing and in another there isn't. Others did the math; the wings wouldn't provide the force to lift an 160-pound man off the ground.

And, then, there was the marketing aspect of it. In a making-of-the-wings video, he mentioned that he used a series of products to make the flight happen: two Wii remotes, an HTC Wildfire Android phone, and a GoPro camera to film it all.

Kaayk finally admitted that it was all a hoax on Dutch television?and on his own blog. He confessed that he is a filmmaker and animator and this has been a "fictional online storytelling project."

"'Human Birdwings' was an online adventure and invention story in which fictional character Jarno Smeets developed wings in a do-it-yourself manner," he says.

And there you have it: We'll just have to wait a bit longer to see humans soar into the sky for real.

Oil rises to near $107 after US crude supply drop

SINGAPORE (AP) ? Oil prices rose to near $107 a barrel Wednesday in Asia after a report showed U.S. crude supplies fell unexpectedly, a sign demand may be improving.

Benchmark oil for May delivery was up 61 cents to $106.68 a barrel at late afternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell $2.49 to settle at $106.07 per barrel in New York on Tuesday after Saudi Arabia said it could pump more oil to cover any shortages.

Brent crude for May delivery was up 32 cents at $124.44 a barrel in London.

The American Petroleum Institute said late Tuesday that crude inventories fell 1.4 million barrels last week, breaking a two-month trend of growing supplies. Analysts surveyed by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos., had predicted an increase of 2.1 million barrels.

Inventories of gasoline fell 1.4 million barrels last week while distillates rose 600,000 barrels, the API said.

The Energy Department's Energy Information Administration reports its weekly supply data later Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude producer, said Tuesday it can quickly boost output by 25 percent if there is a sudden disruption in global supplies. Crude has jumped from $75 in October as traders worry a military conflict over Iran's nuclear program could cut that country's crude exports.

The European Union and the U.S. have imposed sanctions that make it tougher for Iran to sell its oil. In response, Iran has threatened to block oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of world's oil supplies pass.

Kuwait said Tuesday it is increasing crude production and that Iran has assured its neighbors that it won't block the vital waterway.

"The Saudis have been cranking up output, presumably in an attempt to dampen further price increases," energy consultant and trader Ritterbusch and Associates said in a report. However, "increased output won't necessarily reduce the Iranian risk premium."

In other energy trading, heating oil was up 0.7 cent at $3.26 per gallon and gasoline futures gained 0.7 cents at $3.36 per gallon. Natural gas added 0.3 cents at $2.34 per 1,000 cubic feet.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) ? Residents and businesses from southeast Texas north through western Missouri braced for flooding Tuesday after a violent band of storms brought heavy rain, hail and at least one tornado, with more of the same forecast for the next several days.

The National Weather Service said a tornado touched down Monday evening about 25 miles southwest of San Antonio. The twister damaged several homes, trapping some people inside their mobile homes, but no fatalities were reported, according to The San Antonio Express-News.

The fresh crop of storms comes after two tornadoes damaged homes and railcars in North Platte, Neb., on Sunday. The EF3 twister with winds up to 165 mph injured four people.

Flooding remains a serious concern across the affected areas.

Eight inches of rain was expected in southeastern Kansas, which has been unusually dry for nearly a year. The area has had less than three-fourths of the precipitation it typically gets since last April, state climatologist Mary Knapp said.

The weather service said some low-lying areas experienced flash floods, including along the Marmaton River at Fort Scott, Kan. Forecasters said the river would likely exceed flood stage later Tuesday, but drop again Thursday when the rain subsides.

Emergency management officials said they're keeping an eye on the clouds but feel that southeast Kansas can handle several days of rain.

In Arkansas, however, emergency management officials readied teams to respond to flash floods, especially in the western part of the state where the heaviest downpour was expected. The U.S. Forest Service closed campsites preemptively Monday, exercising caution after 20 people died in a flash flood at a remote campground in 2010.

Forecasters in Tulsa, Okla., said the slow-moving storm was expected to stall over the area, dumping up to 12 inches of rain in isolated areas.

"When rain falls in those terrain areas" ? especially the hills and valleys ? "it's quickly funneled into small rivers and streams," said B.J. Simpson, a National Weather Service meteorologist. "Those are the most dangerous areas."

Still, even flatlands could see the potential for runoff and flash floods if the rain comes too fast for the ground to absorb it.

"There's really no amount of dry ground that can take up to 10 inches of rain in a couple day timeframe," Simpson said.

Thousands of customers lost power in San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth, where strong winds and rain pelted the area, and power outages were reported in Oklahoma City and Tulsa County. Flights were stopped temporarily Monday night at Love Field airport and some 35 flights were canceled Tuesday at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Regulator approves Cap One: HSBC deal

(Reuters) - Bank regulators approved Capital One Financials acquisition of HSBC's $30 billion U.S. credit card business, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency announced on Friday.

McLean, Virginia-based Capital One has been expanding through acquisitions recently and received approval from the Federal Reserve last month to acquire ING Groep NV's U.S. online banking unit in a $8.9 billion deal.

Capital One in August announced its plan to acquire HSBC's U.S. credit card portfolio in a $2.6 billion deal.

Consumer groups have been critical of Capital One's growth plans arguing that it has a spotty record in how it treats low-income customers and that the acquisitions will create another "too big to fail" bank.

Capital One has defended its record and highlighted the benefits the acquisitions will bring to new and existing customers.

Both the Fed and the OCC, which regulates national banks, extended initial comment periods on the deals in response to consumer advocates' requests to solicit more feedback.

Capital One shares ended the day up 0.8 percent to $49.82.
