Minister of Transport and Communications to open the third ...

The TransOman Conference will discuss global trends, challenges and future plans for the transport, shipping & logistics sectors including How infrastructure and logistics developments will influence Oman's role in the regional and global supply chain?; Logistics development - a real estate perspective; Emerging role of women in the supply chain and logistics; The maritime agenda of Oman 2011 & beyond; Oman's important role in the regional and global sea trade; The future of ports & shipping in the Gulf and Indian Sub- Continent; New technologies and strategies for ports & terminal operations. Panel discussions on the challenges & opportunities in the civil aviation industry in GCC & Oman and issues in Oman's maritime transport & logistics sector will also be addressed during the Conference.

"In view of the significant infrastructure development in the Sultanate, the TransOman conference 2012 aims to provide industry stakeholders, professionals and the government to discuss and address major issues and challenges, explore opportunities which are inevitable and review strategies that will propel the country towards a sustainable economic and business growth. The conference will shed light on the latest technologies and future plans for the transport, shipping and logistics sectors in the Sultanate," said Mr. Ebrahim Tahir, Project Manager, TransOman.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications plays a key role in sustaining the Sultanate of Oman's vast economic and social evolution through its specialized departments and ambitious development projects. The Ministry has currently embarked upon the implementation of major projects including the construction and establishment of Roads, Seaports and Airports apart from the provision of Post and Communication services utilizing the most sophisticated and state-of-the-art communication systems, for the citizens' benefit.
